One of the world's most famous beaches of Milos is \u201cSarakiniko\u201d, a beach of unusual beauty. Five kilometers [5 km] away from Plaka, the island's capital, visitors encounter a lunar landscape: White sand and white rocks next to blue-green water are the natural elements that shape the beauty of the Sarakiniko beach. Its name derives from the Saracen pirates who found shelter on the beach. The island\u2019s catacombs, also known as the Early Christian catacombs, are the third largest Christian monument of this kind. They date from pre-Christian times and about 8,000 people have been buried into them. With a length of 185 meters [185 m] long and built in the area of the ancient city of Milos, they impress all visitors. If you want to know more about the island's history, then the Archaeological Museum of Milos is the ideal option.
